Natural Bridal Elegance & Homegrown Wildflower Details

I arrived on site at The Centennial Barn for Lauren and Gavin's wedding to photograph and film the most beautiful wedding details! They had custom-made T-shirts to hand out to their bridal party, and the groom's ring had unique iridescent inlays. Lauren wore pearl earrings and kept her whole vibe gently understated. Her hair was left long and loose, with soft romantic curls. Her nails had the barest thread of gold to decorate the tips, and the stunning bouquet she carried had been homegrown by the groom's mother on family land.

Before Lauren and Gavin's first touch, Lauren, with her maid of honor was able to sneak a preview of the reception area fully decorated. The wildflowers from Gavin's family garden looked magical. Bright late-summer wildflowers including pink Cosmos and yellow Black-eyed Susans, were nestled in tiny vases next to vintage amber glassware over elegant lace runners. The polished wooden tables featured green wine bottles to notate seating arrangements, while pure white draping behind the head table framed a cascade of twinkle lights for beautiful background bokeh. Just outside the bridal suites, we stepped out for some pre-ceremony portraits in the early afternoon lighting, making sure to capture the artistry of the hair and makeup team.  Grand Glow Ups by Laura created the natural soft-glam makeup look, and Jayton May was the hairstylist for Lauren's romantic, cascading waves.

Saying "I Do" in the Forest at The Centennial Barn Ceremony Site

Deep in the secluded forest ceremony site just behind The Centennial Barn, Lauren and Gavin exchanged vows surrounded by towering trees and sparkles of filtered sunlight. The setting combined rustic woodland charm with trendy, modern pops of color from the bright pink zinnias, orange dahlias, white garden roses, and the lovely, green satin bridesmaids' dresses. Lauren's classic, veiled bridal look was effortless elegance next to Gavin looking sharp in a custom pink suit that echoed the vibrant tones of the homegrown bouquet. From the emotional vows to the hilarious, high-energy group portraits with the groomsmen afterwards, capturing this unique forest celebration was such a joy!

Effortless elegance at Golden hour

As the celebration moved inside the cozy wooden vibe of The Centennial Barn, the bride and groom entered with high-energy joy. The reception kicked off with a first dance under the centuries-old wooden beams, followed by emotional parent dances that had everyone tearing up. A basket of playing cards was the clever guest sign-in option, featuring a photo from their engagement session! As the sun began to dip below the tree line, we slipped away into a nearby field to capture the elegance of golden hour. Did I say "field"? These tall grasses were growing just at the edge of the parking lot, so we were only a step away from the party the whole time!

High-Energy Barn Dance Party & Non-Sparkler LED Guest Send-off

Once the sun had disappeared, the party lit up on the dance floor. If there is one thing I enjoy (second) most as a wedding photographer and videographer, it’s seeing the party come alive and catching those moments of fun, authentic action! (Creating intimate romance is my first love). We had swing-dancing, line-dancing, and even tiny guests lifted high into the air in this happy celebration.

But the fun didn’t actually start on the wedding day. Weeks prior, I handed Lauren and Gavin each a Luna Ultra action cam to take with them on their respective bachelor and bachelorette weekend adventures. They captured unfiltered moments of their independent pre-wedding celebrations, which I later edited into a fun "his side vs. her side" recap. With the wedding party already comfortable using the action cams, they were able to help DIY their own wedding guest moments! Guests behave differently when the bride is holding the camera, and I love to make the most of that opportunity!

My goal is always to capture these memories with a feel-good process that makes things effortless for my couples. On the day of, you will notice we focus entirely on real-life fun and joy (even during golden hour). There is never any pressure to pose. I use simple prompts to walk together, or whisper in your partner's ear. Then, at home, in the editing suite, I spend hours meticulously perfecting those moments of romance into highly curated, emotionally impactful art. We are a 50/50 blend of wild fun and cinematic fantasy for wedding memories that feel entirely timeless and absolutely priceless.

To wrap up this perfect night, Lauren and Gavin made a grand exit through a tunnel of waving cell phone lights and cheers from their favorite people. Congratulations, friends! May your lives together be every bit as satisfying and fun as this day it began!
